Just as not fastening your seat belt on a tractor doesn't mean you are going to DIE if you start the tractor.
Because someone got hurt doing something doesn't mean it is unsafe.
Because something *COULD* happen doesn't mean it will or that it is even likely to happen.
Exactly. Using common sense (yes, I know that barely exists for people these days) to determine what is risky and what isn't is actually a valid way to choose actions. I know all the safety-minded folks say "you are an idiot if you don't put your seatbelt on if you have your ROPS up" but if I'm just driving around on flat ground pulling a box blade I'm going to take the chance that the tractor probably won't tip over and leave it unbuckled.
Too often these days we have folks who hear about a safety suggestion (yes, even most 'laws' are really just suggestions that the state has determined are the "safest" way to do things) feel that it is gospel and blindly follow and recommend it just because someone said they should. I run my own life, not other folks. I'll make my own decisions. I've lived almost 50 years successfully this way. If I make a bad choice someday then **** happens, but I trust myself.
