Not as bad as tying your dog or horse to the back bumper...and forgetting. I've seen both and it breaks your heart.

I used to tie my dog that way, thinking that I wouldn't forget. Then I read about a woman downstate who set her baby in front of her car in his babyseat while strapping the kid's older sibling into the car... then drove off, forgetting about the infant in front. She went about a blockbefore somebody stopped her... luckily the kid was unhurt.

I saw a guy hauling a car and had the seatbelts pulled out both doors and a chain hooked to the seatbelts.

Hahahaha. At least he had some chain instead of bungee cords!

Smart. Steering wheel is a better spot than the door handle.

This stuff makes my stomach queasy whether dog or child. When I was a kid I remember a neighbor dragged their dog all the way into town, luckily there was no highways speeds and it survived but was beat up pretty badly. The steering wheel is a good idea but that stuck with me so I just always avoided it altogether.

We very occasionally use the fixed latch part on the suv tailgate and a carabiner cant close the lift gate with it there. Usually only use it to hold one dog while crating the other.

That dog video makes me sick to my stomach. I knew someone that pulled their dog to death that way. Took it a couple days to die with ground away paws and skin. I keep thinking of that poor dog sliding along the road helplessly, dragged by the neck, screaming in pain.

Don't EVER tie a dog to a vehicle! Especially the rear bumper! It's just too easy to mutilate your little friend.

That is ugly, and certainly puts way more strain on the pin.

To changed the subject slightly, many of the three-way balls are not rated for much capacity. We sell trailers and we see guys rolling in with a $60-$70k new Platinum or Laramie and they have a hollow tube stinger with a 6,000 rated 2-5/16" ball. Folks just miss the importance of the proper hitch set up. We generally sell them a forged one piece ball mount with a proper ball. I think it is just an oversight by most.
