I was taught to adjust tire pressure for load...

My original car hauler has no springs... it was professionally built in 1962.

Empty, I run 20 psi and loaded 35 psi.

Makes a huge difference and never had any tire issues...

I guess it is just like the load tire pressures on cars... there is a psi for max load and one less for lighter weight.

Yeah. I built the little HF 40" x 48" trailer (photo) (another photo) to use as a Jeep trailer for camping. At 150 lbs empty I can unhitch and turn it around by hand if I've started down some deer trail that got too steep to proceed. (Backing it up something that is steep, narrow, and has a severe side slope is impossible).

While the 5.30 x 8 tire sidewalls say something like 85 psi I studied a tire chart and run them at 25~28 psi as specified in the chart for 400 lbs GVW. This lets the little trailer tow smoothly instead of hopping down the road.

Passed this guy a minute or two before I had to turn, so when I did I stopped to snap this picture. The bed was full of metal, as was the trailer...probably on the way to the scrap yard. The hitch was almost on the pavement. Sorry it's a little blurry...he was moving right along.

I have had 3,000 lbs of wood pellets in the bed of my 2001 F-250 and it did not look as bad as that.

I passed a GMC Envoy with the flashers on, sitting on the side of the highway, on my way into work today, he was pulling a 25-30ft camper lol had that envoy squatting good. Either a envoy or trailblazer, looked like the short wheelbase model

I can 1-up that. I've had 4100 lbs (green oak firewood) in the bed of my '05 F250 and it was not squatted like that (or even much at all). Once i realized how overloaded i was i started backing off how much I loaded in... He must have like 8k back there.
