OK about this hitch. I had the same problem as this guy once but I chose a different solution. I had a Harbor Freight trailer where the coupler bolted to the top of a bracket on the tongue. It left very little clearance below the coupler to the truck. This works fine for received hitches but terrible for bumper hitches. You have very little articulation before the trailer tongue hits the bumper. It looks like the guy in the photo had that problem. I mounted my coupler on my trailer a different way to solve the problem.

Your problem is solved, but I suspect this guy's problems are ongoing and not just in the hitch department.

I have one of those and even a simpler one.

Also bought one from a rental yard with the universal chains...

Last towed with it 500 miles round trip driving a 1976 Ford Granada... towing a small outboard fishing boat.
