Fork lift tricks continued:

I bought this little Yanmar from a remote spot way up in the Sierras then had the seller drop it off at a mutual friend's shop down on the flatlands, where I felt it was safer for me to trailer it the final 200 miles home. When I picked it up I was surprised how he loaded it for me ....

Looks like quite a load for trailer and tow vehicle...

What does the Yanmar tip the scales at?

I'm under the trailer and Subaru's 2k limits. It was an uneventful tow (photo) on the flatlands from Red Bluff to Sonoma County. But it would have been suicidal to trailer that much weight the first third of the distance home, on steep winding canyon roads over the Sierras from Susanville (far NE California) to the Valley floor, so I paid the seller to do the first 100 mile leg to this dropoff point where I picked it up.

I bought that Yanmar in in 2009, sold it recently. In 2014 I finally found another YM186D with a loader and power steering not far from here, down in Fairfax. (Just north of San Francisco then west toward the coast). In the photo linked below I'm on Marin county back roads during a quiet time of day, seldom saw anyone. I'm (just) under rated capacity after shedding the trailer's side/front panels. I made a real cautious trip like a trucker does with an oversize-load permit. Nothing exciting. But no way would I have taken this the short way home up the freeway.

I always find it hard to estimate weight from a picture...

Never thought powersteering was a big deal... no longer think that way!

Is that pic the famous "Dave's Tractor" of TBN fame? or just a random Dave's Tractor? :D I've learned a lot from Dave and appreciate him. Nice shop there.

The crazy stunts them Aussie's are willing to try!

I think that would be something that only a very experienced pilot would attempt. On the practice run, they were lucky the plane didn't bounce off of that little trailer when he hit the bump (yes, it was strapped down with a nylon ratchet strap on each pontoon but only on the front half) on the way back in.

I see from the comments that they actually land the plane at the airport on wet grass. Doesn't seem like wet grass would be slick enough to let it slide that well for a few hundred feet??? Anyway, interesting video.
