I'm pretty sure they deliver to any street address just as well as USPS. They don't do PO boxes (I could be wrong) . Heck UPS was delivering when USPS and FEDEX said the roads were bad.
I just expect they want more than USPS to deliver Amazon Prime
They technically CAN, but in some remote areas there just isn't enough traffic to warrant them maintaining a localized presence there. So when someone wants them to deliver to a remote location it will cost far more then normal. Those are the situations where USPS may be 'better' because they have to be there anyway.

Ordered something on 12/18 for which the latest delivery is "estimated" to be tomorrow 1/21. Then again every week I get an email pushing it out another week.
Yeah, 3rd party stuff where it isn't Prime eligible can be a real crapshoot, even if it isn't coming from overseas. I stay away from that whenever possible or unless I really don't care about it (for example, I ordered a fun sign for my shop for $7 which I really don't care whether it comes or not - that I'll do from the 3rd party folks).

The USPS must deliver to every US address, no matter how remote...

Some smaller towns have a central post office location instead of rural mail delivery.
Apparently they can stretch the definition of "every address". Around here they have large outdoor boxes, similar to a wall of PO boxes at the office.

I think those are free, but in my case I'd have to go about two miles down the road to ours. If there are any packages (which is generally what our mail consists of) I'd probably have to go about the same distance in the opposite direction to get to the post office to pick up the packages.

It's just easier to pay for a PO Box. Easier yet is when FedEx or UPS brings them here.

Just last week I shipped a inj pump and injectors from
South Carolina to Oregon.. via USPS w/ $2500.00 insurance..
I always email the shipping receipt with the tracking number and eta to the customer…
The customer contacted me after the ETA had come and gone with no package in site.

I plugged in the tracking number to find it’s location and it said, GUAM.!!!
How in the world do u get GUAM out of OREGON.??!!!

I contacted my local PO and talked to the mngr.. and she tracked to the same spot I did..
I asked her to fire off a “nasty-gram” to get my pkg delivered to Oregon..
And she did..
The following day I tracked it to “The Big Island” of Hawaii.!!
And then to Oregon.!!

It took less time to get from Guam to Oregon than it would have taken from SC to Oregon.!! Figure that one out.!! Lol
Funny thing was, the package was still completely intact..

There have been a few mentions on this forum of shuttering the USPS, but this is really where they have made themselves indispensable. Not specifically Amazon deliveries, but in being the "last mile" delivery service for so many areas that those operating for-profit just can't touch.
Interesting. Here we have UPS, FedEx (and others) deliver to our door. USPS won't. We have to go two miles to our mailboxes to get USPS mail. And if it's a large parcel (e.g. Amazon) we have to drive another 7 miles to the post office to get it.

I live 12 miles from the local UPS shipping location, yet UPS to my house has a $17 surcharge to the shipper. I am considered a rural route even though the UPS driver passes my house everyday on his rounds.
I doubt they charge customers with a contract but if I order something that doesn't have free shipping I have to pay the $17.

I find USPS to be more reliable than FedEx, who often doesn't have a clue where my packages are. There is an exception right now though... I ordered 4 books a couple of weeks ago. They arrived at the central distribution center Sunday: next move is onto the truck to the local post office. So why does it have an expected delivery date of Friday?
The answer is spelled D E J O Y. Why is he in charge when he has made it clear he intends to do a "Sears" and run it into the ground?

And since he was appointed by T R U M P during his previous administration, I doubt he will be replaced, unless it's with someone with even fewer, if that's possible, credentials.
