Setting idel speed 1046

I have a LT 1046 CC and the idle is set so high that i can just about mow my lawn with the bagger and everything is sucked up. I took it back to my dealer yesterday and got it back today and he said that they lowered the RPM's down to 1750. I do not believe it was touched as it still is so loud and reved up one can not talk while the engine is running in idle. I have tried to find out just what has to be removed to get to the idle speed screw, not the idel mixture screw without removing the whole ding-dong top plastic cowling and the 1400 screws. Can anyone lead me in a direction that may give me an idea so I do not need to do the removal part as I just remembered the fuel pump also has to be removed to take the cowling of. Thanks in advance.

Wonder why they set it to 1750? The proper RPM should be 1200 +/- 50 RPM. The slow idle adjusting screw on these is located at the top of the carb above the throttle arm. See your service manual PDF at The Power More Professionals Demand - Kohler Engines for pictures. You are likely going to have to remove the cowling and some other items to get at the carb, but you will need the fuel pump to be on to run the engine to make the setting. Not sure if this helps you, but every maker puts the engines in different ways, so it's hard to tell if there is an easy way to get at the screw. -Fordlords-

Thanks muchly for your reply to my question. After I posted the request I also sent a note to CC for technical helps regarding same. This is the answer I got back QOUTE "Your tractor should have a Kohler Courage engine which is designed (by Kohler) to idle @ 2150 rpm. The idle speed cannot be adjusted lower per Kohler." I still do not believe it can't be, but what does one do, do they do what think is right or what Kohler says to do???
