Seriously...TPMS?

Heard about his crap from other manufacturers...Just to rotate your tires requires a $500 scan tool to reset the TPMS..Really?..This really pases me oof (as they say in England).

$30at the dealer..But I'm going to buy the tool anyway..Good grief, they really want to can the DIY?...Guess so.

Some vehicles will learn the different location. My tundra has a button that can be pushed in to (for lack of a better term ) re boot the system. The tundra is the only vehicle I have with TPMS. All this government crap ! What did we do years ago B-4 TPMS ??

I have a Ford Escape, a Chevy Cobalt and a Ford Fusion with TPMS. I rotate the tires myself and have never had to reset anything. They work fine.

My car has TPMS - No need to use a scan tool, just follow the instructions in the Owner's Manual.

We had people who did not check their tire pressures....ever!

We had a series of vehicle rollovers that were attributed to low tire pressures because people were too busy or didn't know how.

So the only way to protect those who know better from those who don't care or know better was to require TPMS. Now if we would stop calling 'accidents' accidents and laying blame or responsibility where it belongs the world might be different. But we have a 'no fault/no blame' society more or less these days.

Looks like they also sell a $70ish one ( http://www.amazon.com/Kent-Moore-EL-50448-Pressure-Monitor-Activation/dp/B00A3UNYW8 )and its only 2011+ Chevys that need it. One would think that they could do it through the information center... Whats the point in putting a computer in there if you don't use the it???

New Dodge Grand Caravan... put winter tires/steel wheels with no sensors on back in late November...
it took 2 days and about 75 km. before the computer beeped & told me to check tire pressures.
Now it just beeps once with warning light 15 seconds after the van is started up.
We'll see what happens in a few months when original alloy wheels/summer tires go back on.

If you buy anything newer than you have you'll have to deal with this..My 06 Hummer is an old school tire drain and re-set, my '11 GMC was the same..'13, not so much....Have heard this from Ford, Dodge, (sadly now)GM and many imports...Save your money, you'll need it.
