If you find the word "recondition" on the Fredricks site, I'm sure they'd like to know about it.

LMTC I Had some really good friends buy a Fredricks provided Tractor this year.
By definition it was by Far more like it was Reconditioned. When I started to use it. Since I am the only one that does really use it,and recommended a Yanmar.
I would have been P.O BIG TIME:mad: If it was only Refurbished. Are you sure that is a better description? And that they might need to change to Reconditioned Process on their web sites. Esp.since they are by far more like they are Reconditioned instead of Refurbished just like A VN.?

bought my tractor from Tom Fredricks 5 yrs ago. Use it hard every spring & summer . Only items that had to be replaced were the tach & front hub seal. Both under warranty. Very pleased with this tractor.

IMO. Only buy from a dealer or private seller that you trust

Recondition/Refurbished/Processed, all that really means to consumers is inflated prices.

Absolutly not IMO. The price that was paid for the reconditioned tractor was well worth the price that was paid and asked for it. My ym2000 was as is and in Not Bad to Good Shape still had to go through and repair somethings, nothing that major the worst was the starter. I was able to go into it and repair the Elec. motor. Also had some issues with the voltage regulater the PO left the original one in the dash and still useing it to the day. It had the New style solid state,Thank goodness I kept it the old one started to have what seemed to be the same problem a Year later and I found a wireing issue.I believe it still may be good. Like I say, If It Ain't broke don't fix it. Everything else was just maintenance. Worked around machinery most of all my life, I will be the first to admit I'm kind of **** about some things :D

Just got back from GA. Started out with bike in the back of my truck - ended up with bike still in the back of my truck. Tractor was worse off than hoped for and about right on par with what I feared. Thanks for all the valuable input on TBN. It could have been a real disaster without your help. If anyone is interested in the full story, I will PM it to you but will not post it here. Thanks again guys!:(

Please add me to your PM list as well.

Even though this deal went south, I hope you can find something that fits your needs and hopefully keeps you involved in the discussions here.

me too--looks to me that you might as well post it for all to see. I did not see this until now because I am in the Ukraine for this week teaching.

Be it a good or bad experience, that's why we post here - to learn from each other.

Tell All Ron. You have nothing to hide and was wise enough to listen on what to look for. The guys here Done you a favor all you had to do was ask;) And now it shows and just how informative the Info was. Thats what we all frequent this Forum for. Now pass it on so it may benifit someone else in the future.

... or if you don't want to describe the whole transaction, at least a checklist of what to watch for.

Thanks!

Okay, okay I'll tell. I PM'ed a couple of you, so this is just a repeat for those. I will not say anything bad about seller, we shook hands when I pulled up with my bike and again when I left with it, but you guys can make your own assumptions (probably the same as mine). Trailer was a little worn - broken lights, choppy tires and bad wiring. Box fine, rake fine, bearings in mower sounded loud to me but I'm not 100%. Loader welded to tractor and all hoses cracked. Trans fluid recently topped off because it was spilled all over rear housing but no obvious leaks. Tractor had MAJOR issues. Turns broken and inop, PTO was hard to engage all speeds, horn inop, TS missing, engine was painted with hoses on because one hose was green, radiator completely empty (radiator blown), but there was so much dirt on the front screen it wouldn't have mattered if it was good, one steering link still hitting 4wd lever, the other bent, LF and RF wheel bearings loose/worn, hub seals leaking, RF hub had missing teeth somewhere - you could feel and hear it when turning by hand and RF hub loose from diff. Tightened hub nuts and RF immediately locked up in forward direction. There is more, but I'm getting writers cramp. Seller claimed ignorance to most  Thanks to all, especially with what to look for when turning wheels in 2wd/4wd. There have been so many that helped I can't remember who said what. Anyway, the search is still on. My only regret is I didn't get a chance to swing by and meet Carey. Thanks again buddy, I owe you lunch!

Good luck in your continuing search. Sorry it didn't work out. Been there, done that.

Ron you Don't owe me anything. Just glad I could help. I have found out myself about this Forum. That the Yanmar dealers and the guys on here are as good as it gets for help and support.:D

I think you made the right decision. That sounds more like a parts tractor. Keep looking. You will eventually find the right deal.

/ Seriously thinking about 1510D #38
By the sounds of it, it was barely any good as a parts tractor!

/ Seriously thinking about 1510D #39
Ron, Thanks for the reply. Yall it was the same as was written her he did not trash the guy or mention names etc. Good decision for posting it here that is the cap to this thread it finishes it off, if you had not posted here every regular probly would have if not already pm you as well as passers by for the next year. Sounds like you made the right decision tractor should be priced as a parts tractor or to reflect $$ to be put into it. Glad you didnt let the $5K bike go for it, sounds like the whole lot may be worth more like in the$2K range you could low ball yourself at $4K to sell the bike and come out ahead better than swapping that tractor.

Good decision, but I wouldn't have been as kind as you if I drove 5+ hours to look at garbage. He could at least been upfront about it and sent you high quality images. You'll find one, keep looking.
