Tractor
2008 Kubota M9540
My husband passed away so I need to downsize on the tractor, etc. I have a Kubota M9540 with Grand Cab/AC, 322 hours, front loader and spear, serviced recently and regularly I'm asking $38,000. I am interested to know if this is a reasonable price, I can't find a tractor blue book.

I'm not in the market for that tractor. But welcome to TBN. And my sincere condolences on the loss of your husband.

Why did my scam red flag just go up?
>No location - even in profile.
>Two posts - both selling a tractor.

If I'm wrong I apologize in advance.

Not a scam, just somebody new to this forum trying to figure out what to do with my farm equipment. I'm located in middle Tennessee. Linda

Linda, first I am sorry for your loss. You said you were down sizing, are you replacing the 9540 with a new smaller tractor or one you already have. Many on here have traded through Barlow's in Kentucky and he delivers pretty much anywhere.

We bought a new 8540 HDC about a year and a half ago and your price is more than reasonable.

Also, some dealers will take a tractor on consignment and save you the aggravation of dealing with some people you really might not want to.

Good luck

I plan to buy something smaller after I sell this one. There's a Kubota dealer near my home that I have dealt with quite often, I'll check with them about the consignment idea. Thanks for the tip.

Linda, we have an L5030 HSTC in addition to our M8540 and my wife is very comfortable operating it. The Grand L Series are really capable tractors and very maneuverable.

I am sure my wife could learn to operate the 8540, but she just doesn't want to.

Interesting. My wife had no problems operating any of my previous Kubota's, that is until I got the large frame tractors and now she wants nothing to do with either. I suspect it's the gear drive instead of the easier to handle hydro. Could be the height too. The 5030 as well as the previous units were much closer to the ground.

I too am sorry to hear of your loss. I don't have any idea what my wife will do when I'm gone, maybe hire a 'boyfriend' to handle the equipment or have one heck of a sale.

I won't be worrying about that, I presume. She's quite a bit younger than I am...but I'm still having a good time......

Probably the same with my wife. We also use a pull type rotary cutter with the 8540 and she has never been comfortable backing trailers etc. up. You should see her putting a boat in the water; better not be anyone else near the ramp.:laughing:

Fortunately when I am gone, maybe quicker than you would think if she sees this post, we have two grown sons one who live three miles away and one who lives on one of our farms who will step in. My youngest grandson, now four loves tractors also, so someday he will be running them.

Hi Linda,

I too want to offer my heartfelt sympathy for the passing of your husband.

I recently saw a 9540 w/ loader and cab for sale on the internet (it was at a dealership near Kansas City) - pretty low hours (~400). Asking price was right around $38,000. (37,950?). I consider that to be a good deal too so I think you're in a range that should make your tractor easy to sell if that will cover what you need to get into a replacement etc.

Good luck and all the best.
