selector valve

   / selector valve #81
I got my tripple selector valve today. When I was looking it over I noticed that the oil ports in the valve are only 1/4" dia. My plan is to plumb this valve in to the curl and dump function of the control valve for the FEL. to operate a grapple and run lines to the back for a hyd. top link. This valve is rated at 12 GPM. I think my tractor puts out around 7GPM. I guess my question is, at what pressure it GPM calculated. I am wondering if this is going to slow down the bucket functions. One more thing if anyone else is looking at this valve. You can not put 6m to 3/8npt 90deg swivels in all the ports. The ports are to close together. I am going to try getting the fittings without the swivel and see if they clear.

Kenny You have so much Hyd knowledge it's ok if you miss something once in a while.
Hooked I used a combination of el long els and longer els and straights.
If I was doing it again I might come straight out with the a,B and c ports.
I had posted a picture of part of it previously. post 58 Tomorrow I will post the whole thing.

Bob it might also make a difference since you are using JIC male fittings.

Here are pictures of the fittings, I had to stagger the QD out they were too close to work. Probably too big a loop on the tilt cylinder hoses , I can always shorten them, I have some trouble with the chute tilt hoses as they have to travel 270d. Thats why I put the sleeve on them. I will see how it works,

Bob, where did you get the longer L. I didn't find them on SC's site.

The check valve really works . My top cylinder does not leak down anymore.
I noticed these valves are flying out the door at the surplus place. I should get a commision.

I got every thing hooked up tonight and ran it through the motions in the garage. Other than having the hoses for the grapple reversed and a minor oil leak, every thing seems fine. My worries about the dump and curl being slower were unfounded. I did remove the restrictor in the selector valve. The cyl. I got for the grapple is 2x6 and it has a restrictor in the retract side. I am trying to figure out how to keep the hoses for the grapple out of harms way when the bucket is curled all the way back. They almost drag the ground. I was thinking about a using along soft spring like they use on semi trucks to hold the air lines. Does anyone have any other ideas.

Ok, now I am confused. .I want the grapple to close when the joystick is in the curl back position. Last night when I made a test run everything worked but when I pushed the button and curled the bucket back the grapple opened. When I move the joystick to the dump position the grapple closes. No big deal I will switch the hoses at the selector valve. Wrong. After switching the hoses the grapple wont work. The hoses jump telling me they are building pressure but nothing happens whether the joystick in in the dump or curl position. I switched the hoses back and everything works but backward from what I want. Does any one have any ideas. I have it hooked to C2A and C2B.

Here is what I figured out. I think it is the regen that is causing the problems. I think I am going to change things around so I use the raise and lower function to control the selector valve.

You got it! The regen should not be active for the whole travel of the joystick though...

I switch things arround this morning so I am using the raise and lower functions on the FEL valve and every thing is fine.
kennyd, is there any way to adjust the regen. The regen seems to function through the whole dump cycle whether I move the joystick a little or move it to full dump.

No adjustment...you must have a 3-position valve on your machine...read THIS post for more info.

Well I am still having problems with this valve. The garpple works perfect now. The problem I am having now is with the up and down with the loader. When I am below 1500 rpm's every thing is fine. When I raise the rpm's higher and raise the bucket it goes slower. It goes down fine. So I switched the lines going into the selector valve from the FEL valve and switched the lines going from the selector valve to the lift arms so I an useing the valve in the other direction. Now it goes up fine but come down slow.I am going to dissamble the valve tomorrow and see if I have some kind of blockage.

I do not understand your switch wiring. look at my attachment.
you need two double pole switches. Do nothing the priority port flows.
Pick sol 1 and 2 and port 2 flows. Pick sol 1 and 3 and port 3 flows.

the sketch says it can be wired up with one DPDT switch? can you make a sketch of it please.

You need two double pole switches. Unless you have a rocker center off, double pole one way and double pole the other way.
My sketch showa 2 separate switches. Thats how I did it. I just looked at the switch you picked. It is a rocker on off on DPDT.
It should work I think the center commons get tied to +12. Then the NO contact on each side of one pole get teid together and to sol 1. The other pole NO one contact to sol 2 and the other contact to sol 3. I think.
