Hi, I'm new to the forum, but have question about a selector valve. I'm looking for a closed cross over double selector valve to operate 2 double action cylinders. any suggestions?

Welcome to TBN:)

I am unfamiliar with the terminology you used...can you please provide some more detail like what GPM rating you need, and wether you need Open or Closed Center?

The Surplus Center has a great selection of valves.

I found a double selector valve with a closed cross over from Brand Hyd, model # DS08CK. I was wondering if they are the only ones that make closed cross over valve.

Jeff, what does "closed cross over" mean? Can you post a link? That is not common terminology. What is the intended application for this valve?

When you are switching from "A" ports to "B" ports, the cylinder is locked so there is no movement. In other words, if you slowly move your valve from one position to the other with an "open cross over", part of both ports would be open. In a closed cross over, the "A" port is closed off before the "B" port is open. sorry, I'm probably not very clear.

This is done in modern loader valves with "load checks" so the loader does not drop first before moving up.

Again I ask what the intended purpose is so we can possibly suggest a valve to meet your needs.

Yes, you stated the purpose correctly as I understand it. In a normal valve as you start to add fluid to a cyl the other port for that cyl is starting to open.

In the closed crossover, the pressure starts to build before the other port is open.

Wouldn't the work ports have to have relief valves using this kind of valve.

Can you tell us your specific purpose for using this kind of valve?

I have hydraulic top link cylinder and want to put a want to add a side link cylinder, but I want to use the same scv. I have a 5085M JD with dual SCV on rear of tractor. I use one SCV for the rear blade offset cylinder and I need two connections for my TNT. Just thought I could combine my TNT for simplicity.

If they are stacked valves, just add another spool to the stack.

So what you want is called a "diverter" valve.

Here is two great threads doing this same thing with a electric diverter: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/john-deere-owning-operating/190489-3320-diverter-installed.html

And

Prince also makes a manual one like the Brand unit: Surplus Center - 1/2" NPT 20 GPM PRINCE SELECTOR VALVE

But using a electric one will be a lot more convenient since it can be mounted anywhere.
