Second repair on B7800

This tractor has be maintenance free beyond belief. The first repair was a leaking rear axle seal a couple of years ago. Pretty minor and cheap.

Today I was trying to pull a T-post out of the ground using the 3 point and TNT. This particular post was put in 16 years ago in soil that is basically caliche. First pull, the front wheels of the tractor came off the ground and the post didn’t budge. Using a jackhammer I dug down around the post until I was below the plate an inch or 2. That leaves maybe 5” still imbedded in the ground.

Hooked up again and BANG. The Clevis broke off the top of the tilt cylinder. It’s a C&C cylinder, not Kubota. I can’t believe that 5” of T post could be that stuck.

I examined the welds and it appears that they were done with a coat hanger and a BIC lighter. I don’t know how they survived 16 years.

I plan to fire up the 240A HTP mig to max and burn that baby back in.

At least you have the tools to repair it.

That is def a poor weld. Bevel the **** out of the cylinder and grind all the old weld off the other piece. Tack it on in 3-4 places and let it cool alot between passes.
