Seating new tires on rims

They are homemade. Made with a threaded iron nipple. I welded it to the rim and I screw the cap to the end of it. I cut the nipple short enough so I can air them up. I used one nipple for the two tires.
I had some steel (stock car) racing wheels that had something like that. On the ones that didn't have that I drilled new holes and relocated the valve stems closer to the center so they'd be less likely to get damaged, then welded up the old holes.

the tank to put the air out fast is called a tiger tank and yes this is a excellent idea we put the snow bucket on the backhoe went 5 feet rolled the tire off the bead we worked for 1/2 hr no luck tried the ether it was so cooled it would not lite ,,???? so we put the ether to the tire and the air in the valve in hopes of making it vaporize and boom it worked when it's 20 F below 0 you don't play around:D:D My brother dose tires but he was not around that day and remember this you talk about tires blowing off if you get a tire that has run flat for any distance they heat up:eek:these are the ones that will blow your head off ,,one day a guy came to him with a flat ,,,,oh no it just went flat ,,,,my brother said to him you never drove on it ,,,oh no,,, brother started to seat it on the rim and BOOM it BLOW OF THE RIM he was dam luck that ..the guy said I fingered you would make me get a new tire ,,,,,,best of luck to you all ;)......,ps truck tire ,

I just put some R1 tires on a 1979 Case 446. (its a garden tractor and the back tires are about the same size as a full size pickup) I took the rims and tires to a local shop that ususally works on my cars and they couldnt get it seated because the sidewalls had shrunken inwards and were nowhere near catching the upper part of the rim. So i loaded them back up and went to my local tire shop. The guy that does tire repair on the road was there, thankfully. He had a air tank with a 2 inch valve and a nozzle on it. He just basically had to point it at the gap between the tire and the rim and shot the air at it. He had a fitting that screwed onto the valve stem and his air hose connected to that. (think quick connect fitting). The tires popped right onto the upper part of the rim and the air being feed into the tire thru the stem finnished it off. Thats how the pros do it. Took less than 5 minutes from start to finish for both tires. My brother inlaw has some aire tanks laying around that i thought about making me one out off, but how many times would i need to use it? So i probably wont ever make one. One last note, they didnt even charge me for doing the work, just said have a nice day. Gotta appreciate a place that is willing just to help someone out for the heck of it. Pope Davis tire, columbia sc.

I had one tire go flat and one side come loose from the rim on my dolly the other day in the cold. One thing that I often do is to remove the valve stem. This allows quicker input of air. This either didn't work, or I couldn't get the valve stem out. Ended up cinching a tension around the tire a lot. Gotta be careful even doing this. You need to get the tension member off before you put much pressure on it, or you won't get it off. Worse yet is if you don't get it off and bust it.

I've put it on my Outlook calendar now to check the air in those tires every so often.

Oh, now I remember. I actually put some Goop around the rim where the tire meets it. That didn't stick. Next, I got some plumber's putty and put that around the rim. That is how I finally got the bead to hold air.
