Has anyone else had problems with their seat switch on their GC2310? Mine has been a headache since day one. The tractor will shut off even with me sitting on it and I am no lightweight (270lbs:eek: ) any suggestions?

The day I went to pick up my 2310 it would not start because of the switch. The dealer took the switch out and cycled it to get continuity and reinstalled it. It has worked since. I no not know if it was cycling that worked or the possible repositioning of the switch. I would pull the switch and see if it is located in a place where it is not getting your weight. The new 24xx doesn't have the internal seat switch it has the a lever switch between the seat and the base. My dealer has had more problems with that type switch on the bigger tractors, it cuts off quicker. Time will tell on the 24xx.

I think I took the switch out and either added some material above it, or screwed it in further. I can't remember for sure.

Though I know it's not safe, but I had so much trouble with mine, that I unplugged it and taped the two wire together. I have to mow on a hill side and everytime I moved the least little bit from center, the tractor tried to shut off. I will probably hook it back up some day when my kids want to mow, but for me, I like not having the switch.

I have a similar problem on my 1533. My wife is 110# and can not push the brake and clutch without the tractor shutting off. This is a real pain because there are times I need her to move the tractor while I hook things up. I am 190# and have also had issues while looking backward and the tractor shutting off. I was thinking about re-engineering the switch to be less sensitive. I have also thought about removing the switch but there is not that much benefit for the increased safety issues.

I'm also a lightweight, and also had trouble with the switch when it was quite cold this winter. I made a jumper about 2" long with 1/4" male spades on either end. I keep it handy, hanging on a nail in the garage, and when the switch is having "issues" I just plug it in to the feed from the tractor, then remove it later. Takes about 1 minute.

Thats a great idea, I used it and it works, thanks.:D

If the seat switch will not work because of the cold, we tell customers to removed the seat and keep it inside where it is warm, and install it when using the tractor. This will help in cold weather.

I shorted it cause I had problems with the switch as well.... about safety... well...this barely makes the list.

I've been using a jumper wire on mine since about week 1. My dealer told me that most of their customers have the switch jumpered (although they did not condone this). To me, the seat belt serves largely the same purpose that the pressure switch does.

One thing I won't do is bring my seat in the house every time I park it in the winter.

I guess I can not complain. To solve the problem I will add a switch to bypass the seat switch when I need it. I have had it shutoff on me when I was backing it into the shed while looking backwards.

(Whisper) Disconnect the switch, just don't tell anyone. if you do, you will bring on the rapture. (end whisper)

:D - Ray!

I'll be bypassing mine soon too. My 15 year old daughter uses my tractor on ocassion and as she hits bumps and bounces and such, the tractor will die.

There has to be a fix for this besides "by-passing" it. I am a firefighter and no one yet to date has ever and I mean "EVER" called 911 because they did something brilliant. I have been on some hills on my 2300 and even when I re adjust my seat for viewing I never had this problem, may stall for a sec while I hop on the seat but never seen it not work. Guys and for your "gals" sake find a fix before cutting it out as I have seen severed toes from a lawn mower and also seen what a snow blower does to a glove cover hand when inserted to a snow blower.

Yes, no one should disconnect the seat switch.

I am on my second switch which quit working durring the last big snow we had.

Yes mine is currently bypassed but I intend to find a way to make it work correctly in the near future.

BTW: I am quite confident it is not because I am too light.

I had to do something with the seat switch on my tractor because I couldn't run my PTO powered post driver. It would have taken someone in the seat and someone to drive the posts if I had left the switch the way it was. I put a push button on/off switch on the lines going under the seat. I used bullet connectors so that I could take the switch out and reconnect the original wires if I ever wanted to. I don't have a picture of it but I mounted the switch in a painted aluminum angle under the side of the seat so that it would be easy to get reach.

I just have to remember to turn it back on after use.
