Has any one had problems with the seat on the DK series.
Just after i bought my tractor the metal base cracked, the dealer took it and welded it up as well as strenthened it. Now some 18 mths later the vinyl is splitting. The dealer has sent me a new seat to replace it but i am concerned this will all happen again. any thoughts or comments

Sounds like the Australian models have the same seat as the US models. My seat has similar problems. Ted DK45

Hi Ted

Ted could you please give me more details about your tractor seat as well as how old it is

Yep! My DK 35 seat tore on the right bottom right where the material has a crease and then the back lower right corner developed a crack in the metal frame. This all happened in less than a year (120 hours) of operation. The dealer replaced it but I too wonder how much longer it will last. I was told there was a beefed up seat coming. I figure if it happens again and there is no beefed up seat I'll just ask my dealer to give me cash and I'll go buy a after market set.

Hi
My dealer did give me a after maket seat to fit myself, but i sent it back because it would not fit. It had small arm rests and they would have fowled with the high / low gear shift as well as 3ptl controls. and due to the seat depth there would not have been enough room.
I think that i may copy all of the complaints I can find on TBN about there seats and email them to Daedong Australia and while I am at it i will send them to Daedong USA.

Interesting thread. While I have been comparing tractors, I have found the Kioti DK line to be up-to-par with the big three in just about every way with two exceptions: 1) the seat quality and 2) the tilt-wheel adjuster/tightener quality. These comments answer my questions about the seat. The steering wheel adjuster feels flimsy and seems like it could interfere with the PTO control. Any comments on this?

I have only had my DK35 for a short time. No problem with the seat. I thought it was quite comfortable. Mt thought is to either purchase or make a seat cover....right now I must leave mine outdoors. As far as the tilt steering adjustment lever, it is made of plastic and certainly could be broken easiler then metel. I only adjusted mine once and have left it since. It is indeed close to the PTO button but has never interfered with the operation of it.

The steering wheel adjuster doesn't really interfere with the PTO switch because if you aren't pushing in on the adjuster it will move out of the way. The seats are fine usually unless you are used to putting your hand on the seat back when getting on. By putting most of your weight against the seat back it pushes up on the lower seat base, causing it too crack. There are updated seats coming, I'm not sure of the arrival dates yet.
One thing I have found out from selling KIOTI's is that they are very attentive to what their dealers say and do everything they can to correct any issues.

I would not be put off by this problem with the seat, as it does appear to be a common fault. As a consequence i do feel daedong will eventualy rectify the problem. In regard to the steering wheel adjuster,i have done 270hrs and never had a problem. I beleive these tractor are great and here to stay.

JB,How about modifying your motto to read:

There is no such thing as a bad tractor but, some have better seats than others.
What do ya think??.............Mike

My seat cushion is cracked and separating on one side where the seat turns upwards for the back. Has quite a bit of flex there also. I've not torn into it to see how bad the metal crack is though. Ted DK45

Mike, thanks for the input. Maybe Kioti will fix this problem and I won't have to change my motto.

I have found that all vinal seats crack in time. Depending where you put your hand getting off/on, below 0 weather and tools in your pocket. Ford and Cub both. bcs

Maybe the oldtimers had something with those metal clam shell tractor seats.
Kind of strange that Kioti could make such a great machine and then fall short on seats and written material...go figure......Mike

Considering the predictions of Kioti's failure, I think seats and manuals are minor. Oh and don't forget that nasty tilt steering wheel knob. Such problems if we picked at the big three auto makers this way we would have a list that would goto the moon and back. As with any new model of tractor there are alwasy some problems some big and some small these are minor and are being addressed by Kioti.

Hi Fella's

It has not happened quickly but it has happened. I got a new seat for the tractor today. The dealer got a new seat, striped it bear back and bottom reinforced the metal work repainted it, then sent it to the local upholsterer. He tailor made a new vinyl cover out of marine grade material. Looks like quality now. I think this will last a life time now. And the dealer told me to keep the old seat.
What beter service can you get.
Well done to my dealer and Daedong corporation, you both have a bright future.
