Seafoam

   / Seafoam #351
I use it as much as I can. Gets costly with a lot of tires on the ground, especially where some of those are sitting more regularly. However there is a question I would like to ask. "Where do the contaminated particles go? My assumption is the exhaust system and or the lubricating oil.

Especially an engine like on my 8 n ford benefits in both oil and gas additives. They are always inside and regular maintenance really shines on them. Maintenance to me is the life of the vehicle.

What benefit with gasoline and oil additives? Does it have 10,000 hrs on the clock and makes 50% over factory rates power while burning no additional gasoline over stock

Not sure if this is covered but does it stabilize fuel for storage?

Anyone use it to clean diesel injectors?

Yes on both. Some fill new fuel filters with Sea Foam for faster results but I have not tried that.

DO NOT using it in the intake like on a gas engine.

Someone messed up a diesel engine doing that because it went into run away state. In that case they were lucky the best I remember it just bent the push rods and all was well after just replacing the push rods.

I am actually unclear of the request here so I will state my case for using Seafoam. m y two older fords rest for about 9 out of the twelve months inside an insulsted metal bldg. When they are mostly through for the year I service them prior to storage. Coolant, oil, hyd, battery, tire pres, etc. Top off or change as necessary. And without a doubt I add sea foam to all the fuel systems. The 8n in particular has a much cleaner fuel system as shown when I remove the sedement bowl from the shutoff valve. Another item I believe in is fluid film. This goes on all exposed hyd cylinders, exposed bolts, disc bearings, and most other moving parts. I can't speak for anyone else but to me these two products are worth it. One things for sure If I need my gear to roll it will be ready.
Thanks, Leonard

I like Seafoam, as I have already mentioned here, and I agree on Fluid Film. It is a bit pricey, but it is excellent. I like to spray it on exposed hydraulic chrome. I like to spray it on some hand tools that tend to rust (most don't, but some do.) I'd rather grab a handful of wool wax than a handful of oil.

I'm thinking if I mixed Fluid Film and Seafoam together I would have a universal fluid that would basically do anything.

JUST FOR EVERYONES INFO, Seafom wont cure everything. I had a weedwhacker that I thought had a carb problem and used Seafoam in it. Ran it, let it soak in a 50/50 mix and no change. It cranked good, idled good but wouldnt rev up. I set it aside for about 8 months with the Seafoam in the tank. A couple days ago, I thought let me check that again. Still same issue, it cranked on second pull but still wouldnt rev up. I was going to a small engine repair place to get some saw parts so, why not take in the weed whacker.
Got it back yesterday and $27.50 later it runs like new. VERDICT: The engine had a fine screen (spark Arrestor? maybe) on the exhaust which was about half stopped up with carbon buildup. The shop completely removed the screen and now it runs great.
Just thought I would pass this tidbit along in case someone else has come across the same problem.

PS: The shop said that the carbon was from incomplete combustion due to running the engine at less than full throttle. I had been doing that quiet a bit when using a steel blade attachment for cutting sawbriars and other vines along an old fence line since many times I would be hitting hitting rocks and old wire among other immovable objects so I didnt want it turning full throttle.
