Scotts S2554 by John Deere Blowing Fuse on Start

When I looked under the mower, it appeared there are 3 belts. The mower deck belt, the drive belt and a belt above the drive belt. It was late and hard to see but I could feel a belt. Is this correct? I didn't see three belts on parts diagram.

Also, should the drive belt be spinning while the motor runs. It is not. Also, when I release the brake and drive F or R, nothing engages the belt. That must occur at some point. As you said the engine spins the tranny pulley via the drive belt. This is not happening.

FYI - The PTO does engage the mower blades and they run very well.

yes, there are 3 belts, 2 for the mower deck, and 1 for the transmission. the one you want to check for tightness is the one going to the transmission, if you pull on that, it should present a resistance, if not, then most likely either the belt is too worn, or the idler is either stuck, or the spring broke. the belt has to be tight.. since you got this tractor from someone else, they may have not used the proper belt for the drive..

look up Tuff Torq K-66 here or on Google. there's a lot of info on that cheaply made transmission.. also some fixes that may work..

The TT K66 is a robust transmission, it's the K46 you are thinking about. Some have replaced their K46 with a K66. The K66 is the little brother of the K70.

Thank you all for your assistance. To summarize all that occurred, the electrical boiled down to a bad solenoid. The lack of forward motion was do to a shredded drive belt. Once I got the correct drive belt installed, all is working correctly on the machine.
