If you're looking at tractors on Craigslist, buyer beware.

As far as TBN is concerned, craiglist = eBay. Please do not post links related to either.

The thing that bugs me is why does e-bay and Craigslist
allow such obvious scam adds to be posted on their sites?
Because every single day brings millions (not exagerating) of new posts and for sale ads. There is no way to effectively monitor all those posts. Craigslist is peer moderated and anyone can flag an ad as "Spam" or "Inappropriate" etc... which is really nice. Ebay could give a rats *** if you get suckered by someone in Taiwan selling a car in Maine.

I have no way of knowing what eBay cares about and what it doesn't.

If you report a scam to them, they deal with it, just like cl.

Which is why we are not supposed to post any links to eBay sales on this site...;)

Since when are we not supposed to post links to eBay on this site? Is that for real? Most eBay sales are legimate. And it's pretty easy to tell those that are not legimate.

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't think that is a good decision as many good items have been obtained from eBay as a result of a member posting that they were available. One example that I would not have gotten without a member cluing me in was a set of service manuals for my New Holland TN.

No, that's not why. TBN people have gotten burned at eBay and CL then tried to blame TBN because they saw the link here.

Get your facts straight before you post.

If people don't like the rules, there's no 'Taliban Rule" forcing you to stay.

Once again trying to blame some or anyone else for our own stupidity and rules have to be made for everyone's benefit. Blaming TBN for getting taken on eBay is like blaming the Budweiser because I drank too much and got drunk.

No one at TBN made anyone stay or Buy from eBay. Some people need to take responsibility for their own actions and stop blaming others.

OK I am done preaching.

Mike, is there any liability to TBN when someone gets burned on a linked site?

I agree, however in reality, some people still blame anyone else besides themselves.

It's also free. :D :D :D

Don, I don't know whether there could be any actual liability or not. But unfortunately, almost anyone can sue anyone else for anything. And if you're sued, even when you win, you'll probably be out quite a bit of money. So we all take all reasonable (and sometimes even unreasonable:D ) steps to avoid lawsuits. Of course in this case, I don't think prohibiting links to eBay and Craig's List is unreasonable.
