I'm looking for opinions on mufflers. I always wanted a stack out the top with one of those flapper caps (whatever they are called). Well, I have absolutely no room left. This is the stock muffler which I could keep but it's boring. Or I picked up this muffler and I'd mount it outside the engine compartment. Also, it should keep heat away from some things. I can't decide. What do you guys think?

Will you be removing the stock muffler and mounting the stack directly to the engine?

If so then stack with flapper!

You could go duals out each side; would sound saweet!

It needs the stack. I don't know how you could have come much closer without it _being_ scale !! You mentioned the 10 and 20. Dad had both, 10 first but the steering clutches needed re-do so he got the 20. I always liked seeing the 10 idling and blowing smoke rings out that stack with the flapper wiggling.

I think the stack came out the left side on a 22. If you put a couple of right angle bends in the pipe to bring it out the left side, you probably wouldn't need a muffler.

I used a muffler for a Ford tractor with an couple elbows that I bought at Fleet Farm and welded it together my self.

Beautiful workmanship! I noticed a compound on top of a rotary table. The math to do offsets for points of rotation and cutter diameter comp takes some talent. Thank goodness CNC came along not long after I left tool & die school. Why not delete the pepper pot muffler, fab a simulated oil bath and then run the stack straight up through the hood? Or the air cleaner off a Ford 8N or NAA would be about the right size as well. For that matter you might be able run the exhaust down and then back up on the left size like the original. Some of the orchard models used louvered side panels which would hide it all.
