Here is a good example of what not to do with lumber that needs edging from the outside of logs processed on a woodmizer mill.  Ordinarily I would put these flitches(lumber with bark on one or both edges) onto the sawmill loader arms and trim them after cutting each log.  This weekend I wanted to finish the order for post and beam you can see to the left of the tractor so I just flung the trim off to the right.  Now I will have to pick each piece up, trim the ends with a chainsaw then put them on the mill to edge.  Lots of extra work but some real sweet clear red oak is lurking in this pile.
