Saving electricity

Our kitchen aid is amazingly quiet, when we first got it we did not even know it was on, all you hear is the water filling. Our last one we could hear 2 rooms away and had to turn the tv up. This was almost 40 feet away around a corner. Sounded like a train. so far our kitchen aid is quiet, i dont worry 2 much about the food particles, thats why i spent the extra to get the grinder thing. Its got a piranna or a tiger or something in it?

Just be certain that you don't let any small metal objects near the dishwasher..like a coin or a metal bottle top. You can imagine my thoughts, when both times our dishwasher was grinding, these were the problems??

We have a 747 or a B52 in our dish washer. :D

Both dishwahers were quite for a few years. Then they got very noisy. Now it sounds like we are under the landing path for Barksdale AFB.:laughing:

It is not a grinding noise. Just loud.

Later,
Dan

We bought a new house in 1972 and another in 1977; both built by the same company and came with Gaffers & Sattler appliances (a division of Magic Chef; name no longer used). I hated those dishwashers. I replaced pump and motor in our own, in my sister's, and helped the next door neighbor replace pump and motor in his. Since then, we've had a GE that lasted 3 years, and a Maytag that was just over 2 years old when we sold the house it was in. No matter what they've claimed about them being quiet, our current KitchenAid is the only dishwasher I've ever seen or heard that I'd call "quiet".

It the 4 super bright LED's wernt on and we were talking and had a bit of white noise like you do in a house with tvs etc you would not even know my Kitchen aid was on. When i installed it i was amazed at the insulation. It even had a bottom isolation pad to keep the motor noise from resonating on the floor.

Not an appliance per se, but last fall we replaced our 40 year old oil furnace with a new direct-vent one (chimney would have needed replacing/major rebuilding too. $$$). That sucka is loud...both in the house and outside. We were out for a walk one day when it came on...could hear it a good couple hundred yards away!

Young man from Oncor was just here about 10 minutes ago and replaced our old electric meter with one of the new "smart meters". So I hope we don't have any of the problems that have been reported with them.

AI had seen a few letters inmy local paper about my power company replacing the meters with the 'wireless' ones and they arent UL listed. Here are a couple links I found of interest.

I guess we'll see what happens. I was surprised that the Oncor crews were working on a Saturday, but the guy who was here wasn't the only one working. I don't know whether they finished or not, but they were replacing the residential meters in this whole neighborhood. And since they apparently have thousands of them in service . . . I wonder about the places they've had fires and other problems.

One of the fires was dues to the wires inside the meter socket. So I think they didnt check them properly One of the sockets looked to me to be ancient. Id hope they would change out the meter socket if they were outdated. My power company is responsable to the meter only.I think this is where they could be in trouble if its int eh socket itslef.
