How hard is it to clean a carburator? Any suggestions before I dig into it (other than have someone else do it)?

It is best to try to find a gasket kit plus a new float needle and seat before disassembling the caruretor. Carbs are really quite simple once you become acquainted with them. Most have fixed jets, some of which can be removed and cleaned. The most critical adjustment is usualy setting the float and you might ask someone familiar with doing it how to do it right.

If you have a vat of carb. cleaner to soak it in.no problem.otherwise don't even bother.

Since carb cleaner was added to the hazardous goods list the price soared beyond reasonable for the casual user.

Necessity being the mother of invention led me to find alternatives.

I tried paint remouver and spray oven cleaner as alternatives.

Both worked quite well.

Naturally complessed air is still needed to blow the passages clear as well.
