Satoh Beaver transmission problem

While pushing manure back, my Satoh Beaver tractor decided it no longer wanted to go in any gear. Does anyone know where I can find a diagram of the transmission or any helpful hints on what to check?

first.. describe in precise detial what it will or will not do.

does the shifter go intot he gates for the gears, but nothing happens?

does it grind and not go in.. does it go in and slip out?

does it stall the engine?

does the pto work with trans in neutral?

in gear?

Shifter will not go into any position, the shifter does not go into any gates, I hear a grinding sound when I let the clutch out. It does not stall the engine. Not sure if the PTO works, didn't try that.

check the pto operation.

so.. if you shift without clutch does it grind just the same ?

if so.. clutch may not be disengaging flywheel... or pilot bearing seized and not slipping .. soemthing..e tc..

weren't riding the clutch were ya? or had no freeplay maybee.. ground fingers down on TO bearing?

will check the PTO operation in the morning. Didn't try shifting w/o clutch engaged. will try.

Thanks for your assistance. Hopefully I will gather additional information in the morning and will continue troubleshooting.

Appreciate your assistance in this matter. I've got to pull it out of the manure pile.....not exactly where I want to work on it!!!

once we get more info, we can make better guesses.

many things it could be.

hubs rip out of clutches.. etc.

if pto works.. that adds one more diagnostic bit.,

Also, were you able to shift into gear with the engine off? If so, if you try to start the engine with the transmission in gear and the clutch pedal depressed does the tractor try to roll or stay in place?

Which Beaver is it? 370, 372 or 373?

Sounds like the clutch shaft to transmission shaft coupler splines are stripped. New coupler isn't available, but I do have good used ones & shafts..
