150'? You don't need anything more than either the coffee can method already described or a simple walk behind spreader. Spreader may be a bit nicer, but you may need to modify the deflectors on it to keep the salt from flying out too far away.

Thanks for all the great tips... I found this variable rate drop spreader at a local dealer.. It had been sitting in the side yard for a while.. I offered $200... And they accepted... I am going to try this out and follow up..

I'm contemplating a 3 point mounted spreader. The PTO ones are too large, sadly. I am contemplating something like the SnowEx SP-325 that spreads CaCl flake. I'd mount it to a receiver that's mounted into the 3 point hitch, then wire up. I'd really like to hear from anyone who's used one of these or similarly-mounted electric-drive spreaders.

I really could use the extra weight in the rear of one of these units while using the loader to clean up after our plow guy. I don't presently clear the drive myself (though I may opt for the front blower for my BX1860 and do it myself at some point).
