You guys will have to bear with me i have had my L3940 for a few years but had a bad ladder accident and it put me out for almost 2 years. i have been having a problem with my seat safety seat switch, i bought a new one today and still having the same problem. i have tried every adjustment there is from one end of the spring adjustment to the other. Now like i said i have had some memory problems from my ladder fall along with left side ribs all broke and collar bone and several head fractures, and a ton of rehab so sometimes i forget some things but it is slowly getting better for me. here is my question when you are moving say in the grass field or road, with no rear attachments running pto is off. i go over bumps with nothing but the tractor running and it cuts out when the seat moves a little from the bumps. I don't remember this even doing this before unless you are mowing or tilling or using an implement on the three point. What is going on or is this normal?? Thanks need help, Eddie i should have said it dies when i push the hydro pedal forward or reverse. Can you just tie this switch in down position so you don't have to deal with this? If i am on the tractor and get off it is fine, that is with no mower or any implement running on the three point. if my mower is running when i get off that is fine not a problem, if you want to stop that from happening just disengage the pto. Is there any problems tieing it down so it does not do this any more? pain in the ***.

Hi Eddie, the seat switch shouldn't kill the engine over small bumps. Are you sitting farther forward in the seat now? You can try sliding the seat forward a little to see if it makes a difference. Check if all the seat's mechanical linkage is ok - ie no missing grommets, broken springs etc. If everything looks ok then its likely something in the circuit like a bad or corroded connector or a broken wire.

I find my seat switch kicks in sometimes using the loader forks as I sometimes lean forward in the seat while making a pick. On my M59, Kubota put a forward tilt on the seat making me feel like I'm going to slide forward and fall off all the time. Kubota seems to cheap out on their seats for some reason.

Other than that I rarely notice the switch.

My has the same problem found out she was setting on the edge of the seat barely times putting pressure on switch,I move the switch forward all fine....not saying it couldn't be a bad switch.

well the switch i change under the rear of the seat was not bad, it was the one up front inside the seat, jumpered it out today and made it work, so now i will do nothing but use it and not die every two minutes, good god there has to be a better way? maybe use lasers so when you move or talk it shuts down!! I never cut wires that is just not a good idea

I defeat all of mine either by tie wrapping them closed or by jumper wire.

That said, if you want it to remain functional and is simply cuts out over bumps, etc., tighten the seat belt.

The only good thing I have found about a seat safety switch is that it is a good way to disable the tractor when I am not around. Simply unplug it and the tractor won't start. I understand the logic behind the switch. Now, if makers would just use a quality switch that wasn't always causing problems the system would work much better.

Not a bad idea... where is the safety switch located on a Kubota MX5800?
