Safety cage

Hey guy's just wanted to share this with you,I built this cage for trimming trees and anything else I have to do off the ground. It is much safer than standing in a bucket and keeping balance with a running chainsaw.Now all I have to do is make a saw,fuel & oil holder and them paint it.

Might not hurt to add a chain and binder to the system. Would hate to see someone bump a tree and knock the cage off the bucket.

I could see where that would be real handy in some places. What actually holds the cage onto the bucket - bolts I can't see? And I had a loader fall once, no warning, on a 25 year old '50s Massey, when a hose gave out. Keep an eye on your hoses.

jimmysission I am probably going to drill 2 hole and put drop pins where the buket hooks into the channel for added safety as for the hyd lines blowing well whats that old saying ( **** happens ) hopefully it won't . I guess before i get into it I'll cross my heart and hope NOT to die .

On a similar thread another poster cited using check valves to prevent "some" possible accidents caused by hydraulic failures...

I agree. How high does the loader lift. I made one out of a pallet once but it rotted and became firewood. Some day I weld a steel one, or just borrow my grandpa's scissor lift.

GREEN ? sorry green and orange clash unless you loved the 80"s lol. The loader lift's too about 6 feet.

I've always thought that the hazard of lifting in a bucket was the danger of blowing lines or someone bumping the joystick. I've heard of checkvalves on excavator lines but don't know how they work. I do know that modern man-lifts always have a secondary support system in case of line failure.

The fact is it is only 6 feet off the ground so the chances of getting hurt is less than trying to balance yourself in the bucket 6 feet in the air.

Personally I would not trust it (especially the operator lifting you up and down, all around). I believe too many things can go wrong. I've hit my FEL stick many a times abruptly only to see the bucket go down quick.

I read another post on here, they found the guy sandwiched between the cage and the underside of his eave on the house.

Perhaps you might want to take the "Safety" out of the title. Cage.
