The Temperature light comes on after a few minutes of being started. I have replaced the sending unit, put in a new thermostat, flushed the radiator and engine. The light starts comeing on dim and then gets brighter and brighter. the Sending unit reads less than 1K ohms to ground when cold. It is acting like it was made for a gauge instead of a dummy light. The Place where I bought it says that it is the correct one for this application. I have no reason to no to believe them other than I was thinking that it should read "OL" to ground until the engine was about to overheat and then go closed. The Part # is Intermotor TS67, does this sound correct ?

I have inspected the water pump as much as I know how to do. It is not leaking, squeaking. I can remove the bolt on the side of it, behind the alternator and see what I assume to be the impellar turning. It turns freely with no slop. Is there anything that I can try before Pulling the waterpump? any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

Sounds like your suspicions are correct. The temp *switch* should be on/off or open/closed.
