the governor was making loud clanking noise, took it apart and the only issue was the two bearings and a seal, bearings were 6200,6203 and the seal was a 16x30x8

applied industrial had the bearings and they had a 16x30x7 seal, cost about $18 . cleaned it all up and put it back together, fairly simple internal design ,

nice and quiet . it is a set of flyweights that push against a lever to make carb adjustments. i would not let the noise go to far, if it damages the shafts or housing not sure what you could do then.

This is good to know. Mine just quit. Fortunately, I just finished my landscape project; we are sodding on Fri.
This is my first post in several years. I bought this tractor about 4 years ago and have used it with a finish mower, to dig post holes and to move a mountain of dirt terracing with a box blade and rip shanks. Oh, I did have to put on new front tires this year.
Up to now, all I have done is points and plugs, replace radiator hoses, change the oil and filter, changed the hydraulic fluid and cleaned that filter, and it has performed flawlessly for me. Smokes a bit, but I can put up with that for sure considering all the service I have gotten out of it. Will take the governor off next week and go through it.

Took the governor apart today. Case is slightly damaged, but not beyond repair.

I don't know how the thing lasted as long as it did. No lube in there.

Hopefully I can get parts locally tomorrow, but if I can't there is always interweb.
