I have found a S-650G for sale locally for $1000.00. It shows 881 hours. The owner said the fuel tank needed cleaned out, but would run. He was able to start the tractor by putting his hand over the carb and feathering the air intake until the tractor warmed up. Once the tractor was able to run on its own it seemed like it was stuck on high rpm (about the セ range on the tach). Choke cable is stuck almost closed, hand throttle lever does not move. Carb? Governor? Fuel supply? Any ideas? This seems like a tough little tractor and comes with a bush hog. Should I walk or buy? Thanks in advance

I have had one for about 13 years and it has been very reliable. But I really don't put many hours on it. I push a little snow, plow a garden and bushhog some grassways and that's about it. Parts are pretty expensive but it seems they are for most tractors.

So far I've been able to get any part I needed but so far I've only had to replace plugs, points, condenser, dist cap & rotor, plug wires, oil filter, diaghram on fuel pump, brake pedal spring (lost it bushhogging), gas cap gasket, and the "fuel gauge" tube on the side of the gas tank. I also replaced the seat with a generic small tractor seat from TSC. It's time for a new muffler now.

The tractor your looking at sounds like it might need some attention to the choke and throttle controls/cables besides routine tuneup/maintenance but I suppose it could have carb or governor issues. I can't say whether you should walk or buy but it sounds like a reasonable price.
