I have a 50 inch cut RZT. When I engage the pto the blades will not engage.
The pulley under the engine barely starts to turn but just give up. Someone said it might be the fuse but the mower cranks which I don't think it would do if the fuse is blown plus cub cadet seems to want to hide where the fuse is located. The pto usually makes a click noise when I engage it but I don't seem to be hearing it now. The blades just stopped turning while mowing. I thought the belt had broken so I got off to check and then started back up, the blades engaged and I may it about 50 feet and they stopped again. They will not do anything other than slightly move the pulley when engaged. Is this an electrical problem or pulley clutch problem. Thanks for the feedback.

with the help of an assistant, unhook the electrical plug right at the PTO. With a voltmeter, check for 12 volts being applied at the wire harness connector half when the PTO switch is turned on (engine idling and other machine controls set for normal cutting). BE CAREFUL !!!
If 12 volts present, switch and circuit wiring are OK. if 12 volts not present, trace back to find open in circuit (chk PTO switch itself closely).
Otherwise, with engine off, use jumper wires to connect 12 volts directly from the battery into the PTO itself. When circuit is made, you should hear/feel a "click". if no "click", PTO needs replacing.
If "click" is present, closely check PTO/deck drive belt path/pulleys/deck spindles/etc for something dragging badly or froze up.
