Hello, this is a video of my 6010 during a cold start, seems to smoke excessively and also has some knocking going on until it evens out, it has 13 hours on it now and it has gotten no better or worse, my nearest dealer is 100 miles from me so I would like to find out if it is normal or not before hauling it back, Thanks!

I'm guessing it's a timing issue. That's definitely more smoke and knock than normal.

No way that's normal.

I sent the Vidio to the dealer and he called back and said not normal so he is going to find out what might be causing it, will post back when resolved, Thanks

Early RX6010's had a recall for a faulty glow plug controller. Might be a good place to investigate.

It really looks/sounds like some of the glow plugs aren't doing the job (for whatever reason). I base this on the behavior of my Diesel car (before and after changing glow plugs).

My RX6010 throws out a puff of smoke on startup and then clears right up with no clanging. It doesn't sound normal

I tested the power to the glow plugs during the cold start, they had 11 volts during the 10 second cycle, I will need to take the loader off to test the resistence of each plug as it is not easy to access the top of the engine with it on and I need to remove the buss bar to test each one, I am guessing they are ok though, the battery voltage goes to 12v after the cycle.

So far so good. It means the buss bar is getting power and (at least) some glow plugs are drawing current (as indicated by pulling the voltage down to 11 v from 12+v at the battery). In most glow plug systems the glow plugs continue to get power for several (like 15) seconds after the light goes out. When the light goes out it means that OK to crank now, but the glow plugs should still be getting power. I don't have any tech data for your model but I'm reasonably sure (based on other Diesel experience) that the glow plugs should be powered during preheat (light on), maybe during crank, and certainly during the initial 10-15 seconds after engine start. Maybe I'm wrong but I'd check to be sure the glow plugs are powered immediately after start before removing the loader.

Removing the loader is easy but reinstall can be a real pain unless you did the removal on a flat, level surface. I think (if it were me) I'd drop the quick-attach bucket, run the loader all the way up, and rest it against a tree or something solid instead of removing it. But then I don't have a solid, flat, level place to work.

What was the temp when you took the video? Glow plugs in warm weather should not affect the starting and smoking that much. I have worked on diesels many years, I would not be happy with this. It acts like the injection pump may be loosing its prime/ bleeding air into the system. I am not familiar with this engine, but at the time of set up, each tractor has to have fuel added and the system bled. Most have a bleed screw. I would check to see if it was tight, and inspect all my lines for tightness. Better yet, I would call warranty on this one.
