RV Generator Question

Yamaha 2400 might be a consideration. I already have the Honda 2000i or would have bought that one.

I bought an EU2000i (Honda Generators Direct) last month but really need another to parallel. Can I parallel a 2000 with a 6500? Or does it have to be another 2000?

Also, is there a price on the 7000 yet?

A Google search reveals

"Using a special cable or kit, you can link two EU1000i, two EU2000i, two EU3000 Handi, or two EU3000is generators together to get as much as double the output. (Please note: you can only parallel two identical units together.)"

There's no 7000 listed on the Honda generator site.

>snip Question is, has anyone heard these run under load with both gens operating. Are they tolerably quiet, especially for a campground (daylight operation only)?<snip

I have two 10 year old Honda EU2000i generators with parallel connectors to give 4000 watts combined. I don't have a decimal meter so I can't say for sure just how loud (i.e. quiet) they are, but they're very quiet.

Normally I run mine in Eco mode so they automatically idle down to whatever level of output is needed. One can easily carry on a conversation without having to shout while standing right next to them. The big bonus for me is that I'm getting 13 hours of run time on ONE gallon of gasoline. During the last hurricane where I needed generator power for over a month due to power line damage I had electric power where the unfortunate neighbors had ran out of gasoline within 24 hours with their 1 gal/hr large units.

For convenience I also have a shared 6 gallon gas tank made for the little Hondas. That's very handy also, not having to fill them up daily. Also, the 47 pound weight of the Honda EU2000i makes it convenient to just move it around as needed. The downside though is that 5 years ago I paid $900 each for them. And they're still about the same price.

I would do as Chris suggested do a permanent mount. Vacation time is precious. Less stuff to load and unload, particularly if moving from campground to campground. When I had a 5th wheel with no place for generator I made a bumper extension with gen set in sound proof enclosure, box for outdoor grill and clothes drying rack above.
For permanent mount I prefer propane mainly because of limited use and no fuel or carb problems. Many times with the toy hauler we have now I strap a dog kennel in with the golf cart. Put dog in there fire gen set, turn on AC. No worries about dog getting overheated even when it is 90 + degrees outside and we are stuck in traffic, also keeps shedding dog out of my truck. I like that part.
Other advantage to onboard is stopping about a hour before you get to campground. And turn on ac, no 2 hour cool down when you get to beach and inside of camper is 110.

Looks like 2 2k Hondas in parallel it will be (if I can't get the tree huggers to bend)..I don't want to leave an expensive generator exposed to the weather and moving these 2 little ones will be no sweat. The camper pretty much stays all summer unless we move it once or twice but those places are full hookup so no gens needed.

The place we're stationed at is safe but it is somewhat secluded. The most that has been lifted is firewood when the "good 'ole boys" head to their mountain camps, sadly cords of wood have been stolen. All equipment/quads/tractors etc have been left untouched.

There is a company that makes locked boxes for the honda generators to mount on RV bumpers. They have a built in fan supplying cooking air and locked acces covers at the controls. No need to ever take it off. I couldn't figure out how to connect the link, but just Google honda generator box.
