guys, the link I posted gives formulas, calculations, detailed logic in normal English even tho the folks are physicists. They beat anything we can think up except...the good Lord done it/:) /:)

LOL, LOL...cat resting on shoulder stretched out and tapped the touch screen keyboard....punctuating above paragraph ending... He works in mysterious ways...I'm gonna leave it at that:cat::cat:

yep, the sky really is falling:)

Totally unrelated to the meteor but dang funny.....a couple days ago.....was walking the dog along a river path here in town......about 20 yards in front of us.....a fish (steelhead) fell from the sky. Looked up and saw an eagle flying away. Have to assume he dropped it by accident. I think my dog thought it was a gift from the "dog toy" gods. At least that what he told me when he got done praying. Luckily....it wasn't a meteor but I am glad it didn't hit me!:shark:

People can hold the Opinion that God has all the answers to all of life's burning questions.

In the same vain, I can equally express skepticism in the Notion that God Is somehow protecting us.

@ U No who.

Shuttle does not come in at like 23000 MPH either. Nor does the Shuttle have gas pressure building up at it's core like a steam pressure bomb. Those could be other factors.

Root cause for heat build up is air friction. If shuttle tiles fail... It blows up too.

exactly.

I wasn't allowing for hte fact that it would be way past critical velocity.. and wrong angle. that adds drag friction.. heat.. gassing..e tc.

as I said.. makes sense now.

He gave us the ability to protect ourselves. The rest is up to us.

Media sources reported people in Chelyabinsk were thinking they are attacked, and a real war begins. I have heard that myself. And there is a special opinion on a subject of what has happened in Russia that day. :D
Zhirinovsky: no meteorites, it

So,,,,,, the USA now has a weapon that is like 30 times more destructive then the Hiroshima bomb? We need a Physicist to tell us if that is even reasonable. Any Physicists here?

Oh, and if it turns out we do have this kind of bomb at our disposal, I would think twice b4 poking the US in the eye with insults. Just saying.

Lighten up there Singalo.....my comments were intended to be funny....."dog toy" gods is humorous...they don't really exist....and my dog doesn't really pray....he sits and shakes but doesn't pray!:drink:

It's amazing how much damage even a small meteor can do, and it's only a matter of time before one is in the right place at the wrong time. I just hope I'm not around to see it.

the hiroshima bomb was small....

a MK 41 is a 25 MT device. hiroshima was a 16KT device.

MT=megaton

KT=kiloton

30x hiroshima is still pretty small beans..

Don't worry about it...you won't know what hit you. :eek:

Here is a yield chart of least to most powerful: Nuclear weapon yield - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Apparently, something 30 times Hiroshima isn't very much by comparison.

yep.. look at the tsar bomba. 50mt with lead tmaper.. 100mt with the depleted uranium tamper.

hiroshima is probably way smaller than a modern fuel air bomb or MOAB nowadays.

30x isn't anything with the new style thermonuclear 2 tage devices now...

Singalo, this guy is never thinking twice. He is a well known extremist and belongs to the genre of dirty politics humor in his country. Most people everywhere are just laughing at him. Don't treat this statement seriously mostly because he has said that for fear - what could it be if... :laughing::laughing: I wouldn't be surprised if he'd blame others for Tunguska meteor. Remember he said that "immediately after reports of a meteorite explosion appeared". No other similar reports were heard later from him, when the Meteor Investigation gave first results. But my favourite phrase stated by him was: "Why are the meteors never falling on them, why always only on us?! :laughing::laughing:

I didn't really take him seriously. I mean, why would the US test a weapon over Russia? Unless we were asking for a war, and then it would be more appropriate to drop the bomb ON Russia, and not over it.

I don't follow bomb tech, I was under the impression that a 300 KT explosion was pretty dang LARGE, considering what 20KT did to Hiro and all. But coming from the uninformed side, I must say that a 50-100 MT capability,,,,,,, I mean does anyone think the human race will be more then a flash in the pan? I have honestly lost hope for us as a species.
