Yanmar 4220
Name is Ruric. I purchased a 4220 Yanmar from the main importer in Atlanta about 6 months ago. The hydraulics are not working correctly plus the transmission will not engage unless you wait 5 minutes. I replaced the transmission oil with JD303. When I removed the plug a greyish fluid drained out. I'm at a loss as to the problem with this tractor. Any suggestions?

when you say "greyish" would the term "milky" also apply? i'm guessing a fair amount of water in the hydraulic system if so.

if it is a recent problem, then along with draining the fluid (maybe multiple times) and replacing the filter you will want to figure out how the water got in there to start with.

Did you get a warranty with the tractor? If so, suggest you let the dealer tinker with it...especially if it was delivered with water in the hydraulic fluids.
The transmission not engaging for 5 minutes...is this a hydrostatic tranny? If so, does it just slip for the first few minutes? Was this a problem since you first bought the tractor?
I am no hydrostatic expert by far (own gear tractors and don't mch care for hydros), but it sounds like you aren't getting hydraulic fuid in to the fluid coupling...as if there wasn't enough fluid in the system
