i was wondering how people felt about certain people (like me) who tend to type in lower case? i just overheard a tidbit on cbs radio about how people are quite rude to others nowadays, which i totally agree with. anyway ,one of the items was that people that don't capitalize when using the internet are being rude to others.....am i??? if so .sorry but i'm one of those guys who types with two fingers ..oh well, just wondering.....tgello

Not rude at all. Doesn't bother me in the least. Now in all CAPS on the other hand that is annoying as all get out. And rude.

All caps = annoying ... all lowercase = fine by me. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Actually, I think I've heard just the opposite. When someone types in all CAPS, it's like that person is shouting at you.

No offense to anyone, but I've never understood why anyone would type in all caps or in all lower case. Personally, I think either one looks wrong. I can't believe it's done for speed. I'm a Bible typer - seek and ye shall find! So I don't burn up the keyboard when I type. But I don't think it saves any time to type the other ways - at least not for my style. Would you write a letter to someone like that? I don't think so.

Just my $0.02.

Nothing wrong with all lower case but all caps is trouble as others have mentioned. The reason all caps stands out is that we learn, over time, to recognize words by the shape, not so much by the individual letters. All caps changes the shape and is more difficult/slower to read thus people tend to get irritated when reading all caps. It's all subconscious.

An aside, in a recent class on business writing I learned the "easiest" text to read is Times New Roman 12 point non-bold, non-italic, non-underline, non-caps. Most newspapers use this font. Of course in Dilbert like style, our company font is something entirely different promoting fatigue in the workplace /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'm with you...all caps can be annoying, all lower case can look "wrong". I try to type straight up. Given I can type 80+ wpm, maybe it isn't such a difficult thing to put in the "extra" effort?

Now..about my spellying... /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

interesting thread one which reminds me of another club where an individual would not put any punctuation into his sentences it was difficult to know when one sentence ended and another started taking the time to sort out what was being said or asked made reading the thread difficult at best i prefer the normal sentence structure with commas periods caps and other helpful symbols that make reading the thread question or statement MUCH EASIER
