RTVX 900 Starting Expectations

I purchased a New RTVX 900 which sometimes chokes out on the first start of the day. After that it starts and runs fine. I understand the use of the glow plug.

The dealer replaced the fuel pump however it still struggles to avoid choking out on the first start of the day.

Is this normal for a small diesel? Thanks!

I've never experienced this having owned over 20 Kubotas in the past 13 years but technology changes so it may be part of that. If it starts right every time after the first then it would probably become a non issue or expected way of operation to me and I'd go on and enjoy my machine that has a flukey start the first time for each day. No, it would still bother me if no other Kubota ever made did this and the dealers mechanic had no logical acceptable answer.
PS Sounds like during the night an air bubble is forming in the fuel delivery system or injectors. One could maybe pull the line nearest engine point and let it run fuel for a second then hook back up and see if the problem still exists. Not a mechanic but a logical thinker. :2cents:

By "choking out", do you mean quite a bit of black smoke? If so, I'd say thats normal. I have the similar engine in my BX tractor and the colder it is, the harder it starts but it has always started for me.

Thanks for the reply. No black smoke. I think it just looses its prime (sometimes). Seems to be doing better lately.

It is quite possible you have a small air leak. Check all the connections on the fuel line. Both supply line and return.

Especially the seals on the fuel filters.
