It was suggested I post this question on this board...Any ideas anyone?

Has anyone heard of a way to increase the power of a 500?...Just took mine up to feed the deer. The feeder is at the top of a long grade, although not that steep. Running it in low range, it began to run out of RPM's even though I was letting off the pedal to downshift...Still, it started to sound like it was going to stall.

I see that they put a throttle override on the diesel's, is there a bullitin for these things?

I like the machine, but this is annoying and to be honest embarassing, given what I paid for it. Not expecting an ATV type runner, but it sure seems that a 500 gas engine should be cranking more RPM's than it does.

Does OK plowing at half throttle, but sometimes you want to run it a little bit more than that.

All of the linkages are tied together on the VHT, so I can't see where it could be adjusted without messing something else up.

Only has 13hrs on it, so I want to be careful at this point.

Was hoping for a response from Kubota on my surveys where I mentioned this, but so far, silence.

Thanks guys!!!

I've learned that the 500 has plenty of power in Low,Diff Lock and 4WD to go or do just about anything you might expect from the machine. In High it has enough to get you around on flat surfaces but on hills it acts like an electric golf cart on its last 20 minutes of battery charge. I do agree with you that it should at least climb a hill without bogging down but it seems the engine never really turns to many RPM's minimizing noise but also limiting power. I'm really enjoying mine but again I enjoy just puttin around at 5-15mph. If your into feeeling some power, spinning the wheels and going 40mph get a polaris.

No need to spin wheels or go 40, just want it to make it to the top of the hill without acting like it's going to stall, in low range.

Keep us updated. Just moved and have a steep hill. My electric golf cart won't get it done. I am thinking of an RTV500. If climbing this type of hill is a problem I don't want to find out to late.

I'll do that...Although if you're pretty happy with the golf cart, you'll probably love this.

The tech called me today and said that it runs fine. Cant see anything wrong. Beginning to think that my expectations were too high. May just have to get used to it. I'm not going to use it for anything but messing around and general property maintenance. I use the BX23 for any heavy duty stuff. The worst this sees is snow plowing, which it does a good job of.

Have to go for a ride with the tech in the next day or so and show him what I'm talking about.

The whole pedalling thing is counter-intuitive to me, and I'm not sure why anything would be designed like that, but it is what it is.

Go ahead and get one...

Well, went for a ride with the tech...Guess they are right. Have to back pedal for more power. Have to get used to it I guess. Just because it was designed that way doesn't make it right though... Note to self.

Should have an external throttle, like the tractors, if that's the way the VHT has to function.
