I have read posts regarding diesel engines and the necessity that they run at a proper operating temperature. My gauge does not move at all. Should I be concerned about the engine not operating at a proper temp.? I have read a thread in this section about temp not moving, or even very little even in summer time. Can this be a good thing? It is really cold now and concerned that running unit will cause engine damage.

Here's an attachment from a previous post that gives the procedure to test the sender and gauge.

Mine did the same thing. Now, on the 1/2 mile trip to the mailbox, at 16 degrees it reads a 25% on the gauge coming back up the long grade. If it never moves, I think it is broke.

The only time mine ever moved was when I was pulling a trailer with about twenty people for a hay ride. Only then did it move very little.
