RPM's on a 3325

I was operating my bush hog a few days ago. i was in some really heavy grass, hadn't been cut in about two years. In order to keep my PTO running at 2000 rpm's i had to open my throttle wide open.

I noticed after I got through the heavy grass I was only running at 2500 rpm's.

Here is my question. My RPM gauge goes to 3000 but i can't get that high. What is the top end for a 3325? Is 2500 about all it will do?

your throttle linkage may need adjustment?

Don,
At 2500 rpm you have reached the maximum RPMs. Your normal PTO speed should be achieved at 1980 RPMs and your engine HP is achieved at 2300 RPMs. It sounds like it is probably operating normal.

Thanks for the information. I love my tractor. But I was begining to get a little gun-shy with all the recent breakdown post. Especially when this past weekend my 2006 Ford Ranger with only 27,000 mile started to miss quite badly. It is in the shop as I write. Called the Ford dealer he said it is a warranty repair. But, I wonder why did it happen. This made me think about my tractor.

My best guess is bad fuel in your Ranger.

But you never know with these electronic bin ball wizards until you plug them into a dianostic computer.
