I like your inventiveness using two rippers bolted together. I've been thinking of building my own. Where did you get the rippers? The ones on my BB wouldn't be long enough.

I borrowed them from my 6' box blade.

I run my HST at 1800 - 2100 for pretty much everything but PTO work when it's at the PTO speed on the tach (2600) but if it was gear drive things would change. My VAs have gear drive and a foot feed so just enough hand throttle to start the load makes it easy on the clutch.
