Snow rpm reducer

I have a 1987 JD 650 compact tractor with an agro trend 1000 series rear mount snow blower.
I mounted the snow blower to the front of my tractor and I'm using the belt driven front final drive attachment to power it but the shaft turns 2300rpms - the blower operates at 540rpm. How do I reduce the speed of the tractor shaft or the blower shaft? What part do I need to buy?

IF I read this correctly you are using a belt system to drive the blower? If yes a simple change in pulley size can be figured using base formulas.

Multiply the known speed of the shaft 2300 by the diameter of its pulley then divide by the diameter of the second pulley the result will be the speed of the second shaft. This will give you the speed at which its running now.

To determine the pulley to attain your required speed Multiply the diameter of the pulley that you are starting with by the number of revolutions per min that its shaft makes: Then divide this by the speed in revolutions per min at which the second shaft should run, the result is the diameter pulley to use.

Considering the time and money to custom tinker some sort of front snowblower. We have a handy little turn key machine at work. A JD 3046 with a front rockshaft and a front pto driven extension from the mid pto . Can't hurt to kick tires at the dealership and run the numbers.

Not only will you need to reduce speed but also change the rotation as front mounts rotate opposite of rear PTO units.

The logical method is a gear box designed with proper sized gears. The ratio of gear teeth will give the ratio and gears will change rotation.
