This weekend I completed the 50 hour service on my 2910. Prior to the servicing, I noticed there was some roughness (jerkiness) on the loader hydraulics when I would raise the loader (the bucket curl was -and still is - very smooth. Initially, the loader lifting was very smooth also. I thought the roughness/jerkiness would clear up when I changed the hydraulic filters, oil, and cleaned the screen. But the roughness is still there. It appears to become noticable when the loader is raised about tractor level and continues to be noticable all the way to the highest position. I tried bleeding air out by raising and lowering the loader and curling the bucket many times. I warm up the tractor for ten minutes or so and the roughness is still there, just more noticable at times. Doesn't matter if bucket is empty or not. Any ideas on what might be the cause, and what I might be able to do? Any need for concern? Everything else operates fine - steering, PTO, etc. Thanks guys

What do you mean by jerkyness? I know with mine if i have the engined revved up to PTO speed and lift and lower the loader i get that jerky feeling because the whole tractor bounces.Probably due to not being able to feather the joystick as easily from the high revs. You wouldnt really notice it that much while curling the bucket. Mike,
The roughness/jerkiness is not coming from the tractor. It is apparent it is coming from the loader. For the first 40 hours or so, I never noticed anything while lifting the loader...it was really smooth. Now while lifting, it is almost like a subtle hesitation or strain. I don't know if that would be the right description, for want of better example. It's not a bounce. It's just a lack of the smoothness it once had. Not bad, just noticeable.

I once had a small piece of branch that got stuck in the 3PH lever that prevented me from raising that all the way up.Maybe there is something similar with yours. If you have a removable loader check the connections they might not be connected all the way or have some dirt in them. Perhaps one of the loader piston rods are bent or have something rubbing there.Thats about all i can think of, i dont have that model so i cant really relate just general ideas. Mike

Along those same lines: it's real easy to swap spools on the hydraulic valve and eliminate the possibility of a bad valve (the roll back/dump was still smooth). Quick connects can go bad. Otherwise, look for racked loader which could be bent or loose mountings. After that, I'd approach it like a garage door, see if it goes up and down easily with the cylinders detached. SteveV

Fred, it would be my guess that you hit on the most likely culprit.

I'll second (third) what Fred and Bird said. I had about 30 or 40 hours on Lucy when I discovered that I had failed to grease the lower two pins on the bucket. Actually sheared the cotter pin when the mounting pin started rotating with the bucket /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif.

Somehow, as I had gone around with the grease gun and "missed" those two lower zerks. These days, I count off the zerks as I do them, and don't quit until I get to 6. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

If I stopped at six, I'd only have one side done. Or is that what you meant? /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Roger that Harv. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif See? There's six little arrows on your drawing! It's just like that (only backward) on the other side.... I was missing the one labeled #6.
