<font color=blue>is it OK to back over/on top of saplings, brush you want to cut?</font color=blue>

I sure hope so, although the manual advises against it. I have one section of trail that I mow down (about 1/4 mile). There is no turn-around at the end, so I just go backward up the trail for the second pass. Also safer (I think), as a couple parts are pretty steep; safer backing up hill than down.

As you've noted from the comments, a lot of us use the "backover them" method with the cutter. Another reason to consider: I run a TC45D, last summer was enjoying the seat time and cutting some annoying multi-flora & 1" saplings. Has a sapling that popped up under the hood area and flipepd the fan belt off (NH does not have it shielded). Of course, tools weren't in the box with me and I was in back part of field. Now, I always back over the tough stuff when possible.

Here's something to back over... 8-10' tall... too thick to drive through for decent forward visibility...

When brush cutting... you need a way out... once you make a commitment to go forward... you keep going... you don't back up with this stuff underneath the tractor... (this brush is 7-9' high)

Looks like even going forward, there are plenty of vines and things to snare stuff on the tractor.

I don't see how you could see what you might be cutting (that you didn't want to) in either direction. I just can't wait to purchase one and start using it. Got to get rid of this snow, then mud though.

John, really like the dual rear wheel feature. Did the Brown come that way or was it something you added? Also, I don't see any kind of front "check" chains on you hog. Do you just rely on the 3pt lower links to keep the front of the mower level? I could never get a very level mowing job, even with the flex top link like you have, until I added the chains. Now it floats like a dream. Nice clearing job by the way! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
