I've mounted my rocker arm assembly but the number four cylinder exhaust valve has not adjusted equally to the others, showing two more threads on the adjustment screw. The engine ran well initially but is sputtering intermittantly now. I have not isolated a cause for the rough running. When under power with governor open it runs as it should. without a load, at any rpm, it's pretty rough. Any ideas?

Measure the exh valve spring height on all the cylinders and see if they are the same or very close to the same height.
Make sure the end of the rocker arm is not wore out.

I'm wondering if your valve seat is gone on #4?

With some hesitation and a very red face, I come back to admit a silly mistake. While mounting the assy I neglected to put a washer under the mounting stand. That took care of the two thread difference. I really hate to click on the reply button but here goes.
