I just bought a 6 foot Rhino rock rake, and want to move some rocks on my property.

Questions:
1. Do I have to plow, or use a disk harrow first to pick up more rocks?
2. If I adjust the top adjustment on the 3 point, I change the attack angle of the chisel springs (my terms). How does this affect the raking of the rocks?

Thanks, and any comments are most welcome....

Did you get the guide wheels with the rake? If you did, set them to allow the rake to penetrate about 1-2 inches with a fairly even angle and it will get alot of the rocks. If you don't have the wheels, then the flatter you make the area before using the rake the better. You will have to adjust the 3-point height on the fly to keep it at the right height with out the wheels.

If you have draft control that might do the trick.

Making the top link longer will make the rake more agressive(dig more). Shortening will make it more of a drag.

I have a landscape rake but am not an expert with it. I'm thinking to get the best results you need the gauge wheels. The trouble is if your not agressive enough rocks start rolling under the rake. If to agressive you pull to much dirt and the rake lifts up leaving the rocks. It seems, to me anyway, there is sweet spot you have to stay in for good results.
