Kubota 4060 HSTC, Limited Edition
I'll be testing the RK warranty and customer service. I bought a RK 37 in March 2019. This past weekend while using the backhoe, the rod snapped on the dipperstick cylinder. I wasn't digging in rough ground. No roots or big rocks. I went to the Morgantown WV store and was told it should be covered, but would have to file a claim through the Parkersburg WV store since that's where I bought it. I called this morning and spoke to Curtis to file the warranty claim and found the backhoe now only has a one year warranty, however it was 2 years when I got mine. I'll be waiting to hear back from Curtis today to see how they're going to handle this.

I only have this one picture. Can't really see much from this. I have the rod folded back over the stick in this picture. I was really surprised because I thought I would hit the relief before the rod snapped. IMG_20200328_131239237.jpeg

I had the same one bend on my JD770 when my brother used it... Looks like it broke at the base were the threads start , If the don't cover it you can get a new rod made from a hyd shop..

Quick update. I got home today and checked my paperwork. Curtis was right. It was only a one year warranty, which happened to expire 12 days before the break down. Not sure where I got two years from. So, I guess it's time to get the shovel out and try to remember how it works.

Suggest leaving the shovel where it is, and taking your wallet to a hydraulics shop.

Good idea fried, but my shovel is probably worth more than my wallet.

You can have a hydraulic shop make a rod but probably the better thing would be to just buy a who new cylinder.

So they won't cover it because it's 12 days out of warranty?

Just wonder here on the 12 days, from the time you bought it was it before you got it? Could the sell date be that much before you took possession of it? They might take that into consideration if that comes into play. If you end up needing to by a new cylinder you may want to check Surplus Center on line. Have bought a few things from them but no cylinders.

I can't remember exactly the days from purchase until I took possession but think it was 2 or 3. Definitely not close to 2 weeks. So that put me a little closer but still not close enough. I'm definitely disappointed with missing the warranty by a few days, but I'm sure I wouldn't be any happier if it 6 months out. I plan to look around at a few of the places mentioned in this thread but depending on the price difference, will probably end up ordering through Rural King so I know the design and specs are right to prevent damaging something else.

I would call BS on having to take it back to the store where you bought it for warranty work, unless they have stores selling tractors but not providing service, which would go against their advertising. The website says all stores that sell tractors do service work. The Morgantown store is listed as a store with tractor sales.

D. SECURING WARRANTY SERVICE - To secure warranty service, the original purchaser or a subsequent purchaser to whom the applicable warranty has been properly transferred as described above must (1) Report the product defect in writing to an authorized RK tractors service center and request repair within the applicable warranty period (2) Present written evidence that the warranty registration for the particular piece of Equipment has been completed and indicate the warranty start date, and (3) Bring the Equipment to an [authorized] RK service center within five (5) business days and prior to the expiration of the applicable warranty period.

Guys, if it is 12 days out of warranty, it is “out of warranty”.

If RK performs warranty work, great on them, if they don’t, then it is just unfortunate. No need to blame them for not covering out of warranty issues.

I agree with you on this. As much as I would have liked to have them take care of it, it was a term I agreed to when I bought the tractor. The line has to be drawn somewhere. If the give me 12 days, then the next guy wants 20, and it never ends.

Although I thought it was 2 years, but looking at markies post above, I must have confused the terms with the limited 2 year bumper to bumper on the tractor.

I don't have problem with the out of warranty issue, RK Tractors is not obligated to fix it after the warranty expires. But the OP went to a RK store that sells RK tractors and was told to file a claim at the store where he bought it. Based on their warranty information any store that sells tractors can handle a warranty issue. I think that's a problem going forward when he has a true warranty issue.
