Rk service experience

/ Rk service experience #21
I'm looking into the Rk37 tractor and am very impressed with it. And after talking with my local sales guy the service side seems to be a good setup as well. He was extremely knowledgeable on any and all questions I could throw him.

But I'd like to hear some experiences from actual owners that have needed service done to their RK tractor. I think real world examples from someone not trying to sell me something is more credible.

Thanks in advance!

Check out my YouTube channel, I have had issues with my RK19, and I keep updates of the repairs, loaners, and service process. I have been 100% satisfied thus far.

Thank you for sharing your experience! The grease zerks being over looked is kind of concerning but overall it sounds like a typical service to me. Like you said the mechanics are never as careful as the owner.

You are very welcome. Unfortunately I have an update to my original post. Just checked the engine oil. It appears to have been overfilled by quite a bit . I hope the twelve mile drive home in this condition did not do any harm to the engine. Guess it all depends upon how much extra oil the height on that stick represents. Are we talking ounces or quarts?

Just think, it could of been worse. What if NO oil was on the dip stick?

Ha! True - I definitely prefer overfilled vs. under. Just worry about foaming and pressure loss. Tractor seemed to run fine, but I won't be running it again until the excess is drained.

Is there a boat mechanic close by with a oil sucker. The one I use sucks the oil through the dipstick tube.

Had not considered sucking it out - good idea. I have seen those small pumps you can hook to a cordless drill. I am going to let RK deal with it though.

It would be good to at least get it on record anyways.

If you know what oil foaming is, you will not be the least bit happy with an overfull oil pan.
Just think your oil in the pan looks like the top of a rapid pan of boiling water. Suddenly your oil pump picks up a mixture of air, frothy oil and oil. Then your oil pressure drops to zero.
Still want it overfull!

Incompetence in basic maintenance, such as as skipping numerous zerks, and grossly over filling oil, tells me all I need to know about RK's maintenance training, and capabilities.

I really liked the RK37 tractor. Drove the shuttle and hydro. Both seemed very nice. That's where any of the good of the experience ended.

The experience with the store and sales approach quickly established I would probably never buy a tractor from Rural King.

I still go there for motor and bar oil. I always go by service and look around. There's never anyone back there.

Based on the 3 stores I've been in in East Tennessee, they don't run a tight ship and based on what I overhear from employees talking, moral is quit low.

They seem to have some serious management issues.
