Hi Gents,
I have a small pond on my property. I was told it's about 15-20 feet deep in the middle and I'm guessing it's about 1/4 - 1/3 of an acre in size. The pond is man made. It's fed by a small brook that runs all year and I've seen a few small springs bubbling up around the edges. There's an earthen damm or burm on the one side with an overflow pipe where the water runs off into a wooded area. The pond has lots of water foul and frogs and these small minnows (I don't know what kind of fish they are really) but no fish of any size.
The previous owner told me he tried to stock trout in the pond but that they would disappear after a time. I considered taking a crack at stocking some catfish but haven't gotten around to trying it.
I was down by the pond recently and saw a river otter doing the backstroke. Immediately the light bulp went off about the fish going missing.
I'm sure that if there's one otter there's more, so my question is....is it a lost cause to try to keep fish in the pond?
Any suggestions or advice or personal experiences in this regard would be welcomed.

We have a family of otters in the river on our place and they catch fish all year round. Unless you are wiling to get rid of the otters I think stocking is a lost cause (unless you want to provide a feeding program to the otters
