I just sliced the sidewall on my titan hi traction r1 8-16 front tire. Can I put a tube in it? Tractor has 195 hrs so very little wear on the tires. A new one seems to be about $175. What is my best option? What about a different brand? I see that Carlisle and Jetzon seem cheaper than the Titan brand.

Can I mix a diff brand of r1 tire without causing a problem? I also came across a sidewall patch from Patch Rubber Company. Has any one heard of this?

I would get a tire professional to check on putting a "boot" in the tire then a tube. This "fix" will depend on how long and deep the cut is, that is why you need a tire expert to look at the tire. A different brand tire will need to have the same circumference as the one that is on your tractor now.

As amaxwell said - if the slice isn't too big, you can get a boot. It's a hard piece of rubber that goes against the inside of the tire slice. Then you put a tube in the tire. I've used them with good results.

Just bite the bullet and get a new tire , a cheap fix probably wont last , and will fail just before a major snowstorm on a holiday weekend and the tire will be on back order ..................when you need it most .

Another option might be to patch it and then have it filled with foam. I don't know how much flex the tire would have though.

I foamed filled my damaged sidewall... so far so good.

I have used boot laces to sew up split sidewalls. After sewing, glue a boot inside, (not your work boot, LOL), install a tube and go back to work. some of those fixes seem to last forever, and some not so good.
